Days Spent Living, Not Just Waiting
Your loved one has been waiting their whole life. Waiting for someone to believe in them. Waiting to learn things. Waiting for the chance to participate in real life instead of just existing in a waiting room. Most day programs aren't really programs. They're babysitting disguised as services. People sit. Time passes. Nothing changes. That's not okay. Your loved one deserves better.
What Day Programs at Diamond Actually Are
Real life skills training. Community participation. Friendships. Growth. Most days are spent in the community, not sitting in a center. That's not just logistics — that's philosophy. We believe in integration, not isolation. Our day programs have two tracks depending on what your loved one needs. Both are designed around the same principle: they're building toward independence and belonging.
Group Day Program
For individuals who benefit from group structure and social learning.
Life Skills That Matter
Money management and banking — learning to understand money, count change, make purchase decisions. Shopping skills — navigating stores, making choices, paying. Cooking classes — not just following recipes, but understanding nutrition and making decisions about meals. Personal care training — hygiene, grooming, self-advocacy.
Community Activities
Movie theatre outings. Sports and games. Parks and gardens. Aquariums and theme activities. These aren't entertainment — they're integration. Your loved one is out in the real world, participating in real activities, building real friendships.
Behavioral Support & Meaningful Engagement
Behavioral consultation is built into every day. Staff understand triggers, teach new responses, and help individuals develop self-awareness. This isn't crisis management. It's preventive and growth-oriented.
Individual Day Program (1:1)
For individuals who benefit from group structure and social learning.
Everything Is Customized
Same types of learning as the group program — life skills, community access, behavioral support. But tailored to your loved one's specific goals, pace, and preferences. If they need more time to learn something, they get it. If they need different types of activities, we adjust.
Maximum Time in Community
Most of the day is spent in actual community settings. Learning to use public transportation. Volunteering. Accessing community resources. Building adaptive skills for real participation in the world, not simulated participation at a center.
Real Relationships
One consistent staff member who knows your loved one deeply. Who remembers their interests. Who notices progress. Who celebrates wins. That relationship changes everything.
